With resolution against hiring women rabbis, RCA votes for confrontation follows Mid-Umbilisist

The membership of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA), the largest organization of Orthodox rabbis in the US and Canada, has resolved to educate and inform our community that RCA members with positions in Orthodox institutions may not: 1. Ordain women into the Orthodox rabbinate, regardless of the title used. 2. Hire or ratify the hiring of a woman into a rabbinic position at an Orthodox institution. 3. Allow a title implying rabbinic ordination to be used by a teacher of Limudei Kodesh in an Orthodox institution.

The resolution is likely to exacerbate the growing divide within Orthodoxy over women's roles, mobilizing opposition rather than quelling controversy and unifying the movement.

NEW YORK (JTA) – When America’s main modern Orthodox rabbinical association voted last week to ban the hiring of clergywomen by its members, the question wasn’t whether to endorse women rabbis.

It was whether to widen the group’s well-established repudiation of female clergy or keep quiet and focus on finding common ground with modern Orthodox Judaism’s progressive wing.

While the Rabbinical Council of America’s membership ultimately voted for the confrontational approach, the margin of victory was narrow, and the group’s president made a point of saying he voted against the motion.

The RCA first addressed the issue of Orthodox clergywomen in 2010, coming out unanimously in opposition. The group reaffirmed that stance in 2013.

The resolution announced last Friday went a step further, barring member rabbis at synagogues, schools and other Orthodox institutions from hiring women who carry clergy-like titles.

“RCA members with positions in Orthodox institutions may not ordain women into the Orthodox rabbinate, regardless of the title used; or hire or ratify the hiring of a woman into a rabbinic position at an Orthodox institution, or allow a title implying rabbinic ordination to be used by a teacher of Limudei Kodesh [Jewish studies] in an Orthodox institution,” the resolution says.

In addition to noting the closeness of the vote, RCA leaders pointed out that the resolution was proposed by members, not by the RCA’s resolution committee. In keeping with RCA policy, they declined to provide the exact vote tally, but said that about half the association’s 1,000 members participated. Link to original article from http://www.jta.org

Is this about politics or halachah?

The RCA statement is being justifiably ridiculed all over the internet as it forbids some titles (“Rabbi, Rabba, Maharat”) but permits other titles (“Yoetzet”) that result from nearly identical training programs and examinations.

Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) passed several resolutions at it recent convention. Here are two of them, one against the ordination of women as rabbis, the other against racism.
Formally adopted by a direct vote of the RCA membership, the full text of "RCA Policy Concerning Women Rabbis" states:
  • Whereas, after much deliberation and discussion among its membership and after consultation with poskim, the Rabbinical Council of America unanimously passed the following convention resolution at its April 2010 convention:
    • The flowering of Torah study and teaching by God-fearing Orthodox women in recent decades stands as a significant achievement. The Rabbinical Council of America is gratified that our members have played a prominent role in facilitating these accomplishments.
    • We members of the Rabbinical Council of America see as our sacred and joyful duty the practice and transmission of Judaism in all of its extraordinary, multifaceted depth and richness - halakhah (Jewish law), hashkafah (Jewish thought), tradition and historical memory.
    • In light of the opportunity created by advanced women's learning, the Rabbinical Council of America encourages a diversity of halakhically and communally appropriate professional opportunities for learned, committed women, in the service of our collective mission to preserve and transmit our heritage. Due to our aforesaid commitment to sacred continuity, however, we cannot accept either the ordination of women or the recognition of women as members of the Orthodox rabbinate, regardless of the title.
    • Young Orthodox women are now being reared, educated, and inspired by mothers, teachers and mentors who are themselves beneficiaries of advanced women's Torah education. As members of the new generation rise to positions of influence and stature, we pray that they will contribute to an ever-broadening and ever-deepening wellspring of talmud Torah (Torah study), yir'at Shamayim (fear of Heaven), and dikduk b'mitzvot (scrupulous observance of commandments).
  • And whereas on May 7, 2013, the RCA announcedIn light of the recent announcement that Yeshivat Maharat will celebrate the "ordination as clergy" of its first three graduates, and in response to the institution's claim that it "is changing the communal landscape by actualizing the potential of Orthodox women as rabbinic leaders," the Rabbinical Council of America reasserts its position as articulated in its resolution of April 27, 2010... The RCA views this event as a violation of our mesorah (tradition) and regrets that the leadership of the school has chosen a path that contradicts the norms of our community.
Therefore, the Rabbinical Council of America
  • Resolves to educate and inform our community that RCA members with positions in Orthodox institutions may not
    • Ordain women into the Orthodox rabbinate, regardless of the title used; or
    • Hire or ratify the hiring of a woman into a rabbinic position at an Orthodox institution; or
    • Allow a title implying rabbinic ordination to be used by a teacher of Limudei Kodesh in an Orthodox institution; and,
  • Commits to an educational effort to publicize its policy by:
    • Republishing its policies on this matter; and,
    • Clearly communicating and disseminating these policies to its members and the community.
This resolution does not concern or address non-rabbinic positions such as Yoatzot Halacha, community scholars, Yeshiva University's GPATS, and non-rabbinic school teachers. So long as no rabbinic or ordained title such as "Maharat" is used in these positions, and so long as there is no implication of ordination or a rabbinic status, this resolution is inapplicable.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Whereas the Bible teaches that all humans share one heavenly Father who created us in His Image (cf. Genesis 1:27, 5:1, and Malachi 2:10); and
  • Whereas the Mishnah (Sanhedrin 4:5) teaches that God created Man as one individual human being to promote harmony among people, so that no one can claim that his origins are superior to those of another person; and, that God's Greatness is manifest in the diverse and unique appearances of His creatures; and
  • Whereas the Jewish people began its history as a persecuted, enslaved people, and is repeatedly adjured by God to remember its lowly origins and to be kind to others in similar circumstances; and
  • Whereas the Jewish people has experienced both great acceptance as well as significant discrimination in the United States and, more broadly, has a continuous history as a persecuted minority; and
  • Whereas the centuries-old American problem of white racism against African Americans continues to be a disgraceful, explosive contemporary reality, with both overt and insidious manifestations
Therefore, the Rabbinical Council of America
  • Reaffirms its absolute condemnation of racist speech and deeds; and
  • Encourages its members to
    • protest, in the name of Torah ideals, manifestations of racism in the societies in which they live; and,
    • create public events which create, foster, or deepen amity between Jewish and African-American communities; and,
    • embrace, proactively and warmly, Jews of all racial backgrounds in their communities; and,
    • identify and combat manifestations of racism which may occasionally occur in the communities they lead; and,
    • calls upon all people to combat the pernicious scourge of racism in any way they can.
"The halachic source for prohibiting women from teaching or having authority over men is from the Christian scriptures and is given in the name of an apostate Jew. Even today, the overwhelming majority of Christians belong to Churches that refuse to ordain women. The RCA is going in the ways of the minim."
"Pre, Post and Mid-Umbilisists" Addressing the Question Of Adams Navel
A question that has plagued many of us in religious and intellectual circles for the last century has been subject of debate, and heated discussion across the globe. It is the presumption as to the exact time and nature in and by which Adam (being in this case the first man to exist) was blessed with a belly-button. ‘How curious,’ you might ask. Yet, this very curiosity has enthralled scholars and theologians so much for the last few decades that they have finally grouped themselves into three distinct positions.
The first position, and it is worth exploring momentarily, however absurd, is the view of the "Pre-Umbilisists.” This group believes that Adam’s navel was formed upon the point of his creation. Adam, coming from dust and created in the precise image of our Lord was granted the navel at the time of his “coming into existence.” With this in mind, one must note that if Adam was indeed created in the image of God in Heaven, that our Lord must also be blessed with a navel. One might also argue that God at one time had to have had an umbilical cord. If this is indeed the case, our curiosity would lead us to question the location of attachment for the aforementioned “cord.” Some Pre-Umbilisists believe the point of attachment to be located between two star clusters, the Quinn Cluster and Gamma Quadrant Four. This location is hundreds of light years from our planet and was chosen because its coordinates lay within the area scientists have theorized to be the center of the Big Bang, the point of the universe's creation. The Pre-Umbilisist would argue that the Lord’s umbilical cord was attached to perhaps a planet or a mass in the deep space of nothingness. We could picture, they say, the image of a child-like God, floating about in this space with his umbilical cord attached to some mass. The “point of severing” which is an important term for the Pre-Umbilisist, would have happened at the implosion of that planet or mass. The explosion would have been so great, that the umbilical cord would have been broken, to float for eternity alone in deep space, and at the same point, our Lord awakened to complete consciousness, fully God and fully complete, with navel.
Adam’s navel would be complete and real, yet serve no known purpose were he to be blessed with it at the point in which he was “drawn from dust.” He would “simply have it,” the Pre-Umbilisist would argue, for without it, “he would not be in the complete image of God.” This series of arguments leads us to the question of “Eve,” Adam’s handmaid. It is here, we can bring up the second position, Mid-Umbilisism.
The Mid-Umbilisist refers to this time as “the Great Dusting Away.” In which those who were not created in the image of God, the women in this case, will simply be erased, as if nothing every happened.
The Fall of Man, we define as the exact time when we, as human beings became aware of our sinful nature. The Fall, as we know, happened with the creation of Eve. The consequential events that followed led to Adams downfall and the human race as a whole, forever being “separated” from God. The Mid-Umbilisist argues that Adam’s belly-button was formed sometime between the creation of “Eve,” and the time in which it took that “Woman” to take the first bite of that most tempestuous apple. The central vision of the Mid-Umbilisist lays within the “taking of the rib.” When God saw that Adam was alone, he decided to create a help-mate. He did this by taking Adams rib and moving it in such a way to loose it from his stomach. The Mid-Umbilisist paints a picture of the protruding rib being pulled from the blank stomach of our dear Adam. Its being forced out in the very area where God intended to attach future children within the wombs of their mothers. The outward thrust created a puncture hole, and thus became, for Adam, the first belly-button. Eve, to the Mid-Umbilisist was and in a sense always shall be “without navel.” Even before the fall, they argue that this was God’s intention in creating the “Woman.” “Wo-” meaning underneath, below, less than, and in ancient Greek; inferior to.. the “Man.” You see, to the Mid-Umbilisist, women are forever caught in the wake of “Eve.” Eve, being without a navel, was of course, less than human, or as some might put it, “not human.” So in a sense, are all women, not human. They are not as their legacy unfolds, to be blessed with heaven, they are void and without a soul. The Mid-Umbilisist would have us believe that woman, at the end of time and at the point of their death, when they are no longer of any use to man, will be whisked away by the hand of God, as if they never existed, as if they never even happened. The Mid-Umbilisist refers to this time as “the Great Dusting Away.” In which those who were not created in the image of God, the women in this case, will simply be erased, as if nothing every happened. They were here to serve man, and incapable of service to God, so they can serve no purpose in the afterlife. Since they are soulless creatures, they can no sooner gain heaven than a dog or a cow.
This all leads us to the last position, that of the Post-Umbilisist. This group of learned theologians and scholars believe that Adam’s navel was formed after the Fall. The very instant when Adam and Eve discovered they were naked in the Garden of Eden, they were granted belly-buttons. You see, at this point there were no natural births, they were the only two people on the planet. They were not formed naturally, but supernaturally, by God. It would make sense, perhaps that the “placing of the navel” would be the last supernatural event. The children of Adam and Eve were the first to have natural belly-buttons. When these children slept with each other and birthed more children from incestuous relations, they in turn were given the placenta, the attachment. The navel was then to be symbolic of pain suffered in child-birth as well as the sinful necessity of incest to populate the planet. The question remains however, Why would Adam and Eve need belly-buttons. Perhaps for the very reason that they were created in the image of God. If this is the case, then the argument presented by the Pre-Umbilisist would need to be re-examined. Questions remain, like, where is the placenta of God, is it floating about in space, did it ever exist, why would God need a navel? This argument was explored recently in the arena of science fiction. Someone had theorized that there was this great cord like nexus “God’s placenta” zooming through space. Anyone who would pass through it could enter a state of euphoria, like being in the presence of God. Another matter that remains unresolved is the subject of “innies” and or “outies.” What do they mean? Is the inward formed navel a symbol of man’s attempt to reach the “spiritual” by looking “within?” The outward formed navel could mean the opposite, searching for spiritual meaning in the exterior world, a pantheistic view. In either case the “innie” would be the more desirable. Not only is it generally a more comfortable navel to have, as most of us that posses them know, but in a sense, doesn't having one make us less damned for not being born having the sign of seeking those material things that exist apart from the soul. In any case, most intellectuals agree that the question of “innies” and “outies” will not be resolved until more significant issues are addressed.
The arguments of Pre, Mid, and Post-Umbilisists are rich in theory and for the most part, lack any original fact. Until the last century the exact location of the Garden of Eden was unknown. Now that archeologists and sociologists have reached a consensus on deliberating the origins of human life, perhaps we are closer to the day when carbon dating, and geological testing can give us some tangible evidence. We can only hope and wait for that great day when the announcement is made, “We have the lint ball! We have the lint ball!” Source:
Clock Boy: Roll Over Nikola Tesla
Our Loss is Qatar’s Pain
At the risk of jinxing it, the whole “Clock Boy” affair appears to have come to an end. Texas high school freshman Ahmed Mohamed, who cashed in his invite to the White House a couple of weeks ago, I confess has a great deal of my admiration. I mean, his little “invention” managed to impress none other than Barack Obama, a guy whose knowledge of electronics cannot be overstated.
Kidding! The guy’s knowledge of electronics can’t even be mumbled, same as his knowledge of diplomacy, healthcare, economics, running a business, and every other topic he condescendingly lectures about to the more qualified. I admit I’m no Edison myself (after a field technician’s mistake triggered the 2011 Southwest Blackout, blanketing about 1/3 of California plus connecting areas in Mexico and Arizona, San Diego Gas & Electric called me and said “don’t worry, it wasn’t you”), but I could tell from first glance that what had Obama so impressed was pretty unimpressive. Even I could’ve done what Clock Boy did when I was his age, only I was busy dating Ms. Pac-Man and not hating America.
Just to refresh, 14-year-old Mohamed removed the guts from an ordinary digital clock and put them in a black pencil case roughly the size of a box of cake mix; by coincidence, it ended up bearing a strong resemblance to a bomb. And when I say “by coincidence” I mean “exactly as the little twerp intended.” He then used it (at the behest of his attention-slut father) to generate a hoax/mini-holy war, with great success. For that he was rewarded with that public slurping by the president, plus stuff like a nice elbow-rub at the U.N., and companies like Google and Facebook fantasizing about how to enrich him for life. By comparison, Nikola Tesla, the prolific Serbian physicist & electrical engineer responsible for some of the most important technological advances in world history, died penniless after decades of sweat & toil. (That noise you hear in central Europe is his ghost screaming “F*** ME!”)
So the dust is pretty much settled, and we know the Clock Boy Controversy was a phony little ploy–just a sleazecup dad using his kid to cause trouble. It makes sense if you think about it: his daughter was actually suspended from middle school in 2009, after a classmate reportedly heard her say she “wanted to blow up the school,” millions of people lapped up his latest scam like thirsty Labradoodles, and he is a sleazecup. Oh, in case you missed it, just before his visit to the White House, Ahmed accepted an invitation to hang out with none other than Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, the noted whiz-kid booster, impeccable dresser, occasional hemorrhoid sufferer, and slaughterer of hundreds of thousands in Darfur. I don’t know what your definition of Utopia is, but mine is a place where nobody would get their kicks creating a bomb scare or suppering with a diabolical mass-murderer.
Anyway, the Mohamed family will soon be selling their house and jetting off to Qatar. Say, anybody know the over/under on Ahmed’s planned carry-on?
Credit where credit is due: As poorly as the CNBC moderators behaved during the GOP debate, at least they were nice enough to provide plenty of room onstage for the candidates. It became just so wonderfully open & spacious up there once they removed their Ted Cruz dartboard, Ben Carson speedbag, Carly Fiorina effigy, Marco Rubio tackling dummy, and Donald Trump urinal.
The guy just don’t learn: disgusted GOP Chair Reince Priebus has kicked NBC to the curb for a debate he knew would be moderated by John Harwood. Mr. Priebus is not the sort of guy you can trust with any control over your political future. He’s the sort of guy who’d buy a house with a giant cesspool in the backyard and then bitch about the smell.
Right up there with 7/4/1776: Paul Ryan’s House Speakership began with a history-making event: Nancy Pelosi behaving in a respectful manner.
Man’s got a pair in solid brass: Bernie Sanders just paid Hillary Clinton a huge compliment: he thinks she’s got VP potential. Quoting the Green Mountain Socialist’s campaign: “we’re willing to consider her for vice president. We’ll give her serious consideration. We’ll even interview her.” Now, what power-hungry, entitled, aspiring tyrant-queen wouldn’t love hearing that?
Football formality: According to league rules, any NFL team planning to relocate to another city must first conduct a town-hall for fans to come and make their voices heard. The San Diego Chargers did just that the evening of October 28th at the city’s storied Spreckles Theater. The team made it worth the fans’ while: not only did they genuinely seem to care, they covered the cost of parking as well as treats for the dogs and ponies.
Right on schedule: Members of the House do their impression of Obama negotiating with Iran, and hand over the debt ceiling increase he demanded. At least Obama is showing more class than Iran did–he didn’t insult Congress out loud the whole time.
This continuing resolution business as always stinks to high heaven, but the good news is our supply of cash available for national debt payments has grown since the previous CR. The spike began somewhere around the time the First Lady got back from her last vacation.
Spoiler alert: Truth, the movie about Dan Rather’s questionable reporting on George W. Bush’s National Guard service, has sold poorly at the box office since its October 16th release. It’s nothing new when liberals’ cinematic attempts to rewrite history end up bombs, but what’s refreshing about this one is the very fitting name of one of the production companies in the credits: Mythology Entertainment.
Pop quiz for anyone who hasn’t heard the Democrat front runner speak for three consecutive minutes: what gender is Hillary Clinton? (For extra credit, do not provide photographic proof.)
Uh, Oh… Looks Like The Muslim ‘Clock Boy’ And His Family Could Face HUGE Legal Trouble…
by Gina Cassini
How to be an instant celebrity – be one of liberals’ favored minority victim classes. Put the guts of an old digital clock in a case that looks like one Jack Bauer would be rushing to diffuse. Take it to a public school and freak everybody out with it. Wear a face like you’re a kicked puppy when you get in trouble for it. And BOOM – you have your own hashtag, free scholarship money from unwitting donors, and apersonal invite to the White House.
But now that engineering experts have literally taken Ahmed Mohamed’s “homemade” clock story topieces, and evidence of his father’s complicity with radical Muslim pressure group CAIR, and Ahmed’s own confession that he knew beforehand that his phony “clock” would be viewed as a bomb, it is becoming more clear by the day that this entire incident may well have been an elaborately-planned fraud.
And, as Judge Andrew Napolitano says here, he and his family could be in BIG TIME trouble for this…
Looks like the Mohamed clan will be needing that lawyer, real soon…
WHOA…THIS is What Happened When Ahmed’s ‘Clock Invention’ was Reverse Engineered…
JesOS™ (Operating System) The First True Christian™ Computer Operating System!
JesOS™
The First True Christian™ Computer Operating System!Click Here to Discuss JesOS v. 1.0 2-G
Prescott, AZ – Official Press Release:  This month, The Potters House i.e.Christain Fellowship Ministries Computer Science instructor, Pastor Isaac Peters, along with ten of his hard-working male students, unveiled the results of a six-month Christian Service Project that is sure to take the computer world by storm. They have developed the first known True Christian™ Operating System: JesOS™.  The system is being released to the Christian public, although the log-in sound effect still needs some work.
The project was initiated out of Godly concern that Christians are persecuted daily by being forced to use Godless, secular humanist operating systems. “Apple™ uses its corporate logo as a clear allusion to the fall of mankind,” says Mr. Peters, “and Windows™ funds a foundation set up by notorious atheist 'do-gooder,' Bill Gates, which seeks to help people in this life while paying no attention to their eternal destinies. And of course Linux is the handiwork of America-hating Europeans. Quite frankly, knowing this, the response of any Christian should be, I plead the power and blood of Jesus Christ over my keyboard! Demons out!” Peters assures potential buyers that JesOS™ is made by Christians, for Christians! And the coding will never be outsourced to a country where they worship cows.”
JesOS™   Sanctifies and Enhances a Christ-like, Comfortable, and (Lord Willing) an Unsaved-Free Computing Experience for True Christians™ by Providing the Following Features:
  • All applications are integrated with a system-wide, context-sensitive spell checker and King James Bible dashboard widget. For example, if the user types terms such as "gay" or "LGBT," the spell checker will automatically insert the verses from Leviticus and Romans on sodomy. In any text except direct quotations from the King James Bible, the spell checker will automatically correct all spellings to conform to U.S. orthography. "If American English is good enough for Jesus," said Peters, "then it's good enough for JesOS, and it's more than good enough for you."
  • The operating system kernel will refuse calls from all applications that have not previously been cleared with the U.S. Department of Faith. For example, users should not expect to be able to play violent video games unless the violence comes straight out of the Old Testament or consists solely of that form of free speech popularly known as "hate crimes."
  • Anti-virus protection will not be included. Instead, taking a cue from the instructions in the Epistle of James on faith healing, technical support will be available to pray and hear confessions in order to cast out computer viruses. Support may be reached either through a 1-900 number or the chat channel #computerhealingservice on irc.pathwaysradio.org.
  • Every document will be thoroughly indexed by our GDesktop Search (or some take-off on the Google Desktop indexer, GDesktop for God-Desktop). All files will be scanned for subversive text (both ASCII and binary, lest Satan tempt someone to try to hide in a lower-base instead of God's own base 10). In addition, any file containing three consecutive 6's will immediately flag your account and a Dept. of Homeland Security will be around to speak with you in 30-45 minutes.
  • Provided plug-in for browser: Auto-Caps. Whenever it is detected that you are sharing the tough love of Jesus with homosexuals on the interwebs, the auto caps function WILL AUTOMATICALLY TRIGGER, SO AS TO AVOID HAVING TO LISTEN TO ANY SO-CALLED COUNTER-ARGUMENTS. Also known as the "O'Reilly-Factor".
  • Built-in video cameras will allow for monitoring of facial expressions consistent with self-abuse, (or tenderizing one’s tallywhacker as we call it here at Pathways Radio). This is to prevent any pornographic sites from somehow getting through our standard Baptist sex filters. The cameras will operate 24/7, and allow for constant sin protection. Single, widowed men over the age of 65 will have the option of removing these services.
  • No “Recycle Bin” will be available on JesOS™. This ensures that the user won't inadvertently lend credence to the Catholic idea of "purgatory", when a file is deleted, it is gone. Jesus sends those bytes straight to the fiery pits of Hell -- no if's, and's or but's about it! Besides, True Christians™ don’t have any need to recycle in the real world, so why should we recycle on the computer?
  • Integrated support for the Rapture. Immediately following the Rapture, countless hordes of unsaved trash will descend upon empty True Christian™ houses to steal our underwear and anything else they can find. JesOS™ immediately locks down the computer and sends a Bluetooth signal to any extra supplies you might have laying around, causing them to detonate. Jesus won't be able to accuse you of heavenly treason, aiding the enemy!
  • Built-in support for wildly popular Godly programs such as eSword, and BibleGateway (1611KJV only).
  • Features a brand-new not-yet-released piece of software: DetectBias. Sponsored by Fox News, this handy little tool scans all information coming into your computer for liberal bias and immediately alerts the user when some communistic propaganda is detected.
  • Syncs with the global network Hillary's Private email servers, ensuring that the proper emails are deleted or lost according to the White House's orders.
  • Acts as an email hub, sending hundreds of Special Moments™ Bible stories, verses, testimonies, and huge September 11 slideshows to all your friends and families, and everyone in their address books too!
Muslim Group Calls For Ben Carson to Leave Race
Muslim group calls for Carson to leave race
By ROBERT KING
Neurosurgeon Ben Carson should withdraw from the presidential race for his comments that a Muslim shouldn't be president a prominent Muslim-American group said Sunday.
"I think his remarks should be repudiated by everyone on the political spectrum and that he should withdraw," Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation's largest Islamic advocacy group, told the Washington Examiner on Sunday.
Carson, who is third in the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, spoke on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday and said that he wouldn't "advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation."
Hooper said that Carson's comments were unconstitutional according to Article Six of the Constitution, which forbids a religious test as a requirement for qualification to any public office.
He added that he is constantly dismayed by the "Islamophobia [exhibited] by the right wing of the political spectrum."
However, Carson's comments go "way beyond the pale from anything I have heard," said Hooper.
Carson's comments come a few days after front-runner Donald Trump refused to challenge an audience member's assertion that President Obama is a Muslim, which the president is not.
"Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd also asked Trump on Sunday on whether or not he would be comfortable with a Muslim president.
"Would I be comfortable? I don't know if we have to address it right now," he said. Source: Washington Examiner
Can Muslims Be Good Americans ?
November 29, 2009
Interesting concept:
Can Muslims Be Good Americans ?
This is very interesting! Every real American needs to
read it from start to finish.....and share it with anyone
who will read it.
(Maybe this is why our so-called American Muslims are so
quiet and not speaking out about any atrocities.)
Can a good Muslim be a good American?
This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi
Arabia for 20 years.
The following is his reply:
Theologically - no. . . . Because his allegiance is to
Allah, The moon God of Arabia .
Religiously - no. . . . Because no other religion is
accepted by His Allah except Islam
(Quran, 2:256) (Koran).
Scripturally - no. . . . Because his allegiance is to the
five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.
Geographically - no. . .Because his allegiance is to Mecca,
to which he turns in prayer five times a day.
Socially - no. . . . Because his allegiance to Islam
forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.
Politically - no. . . . Because he must submit to the
mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of
Israel and destruction of America , the great Satan.
Domestically - no. . . . Because he is instructed to marry
four women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys
him (Quran 4:34).
Intellectually - no. . . . Because he cannot accept the
American Constitution since it is based on Biblical
principles, and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.
Philosophically - no. . . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and
the Quran do not allow freedom of religion and expression.
Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government
is either dictatorial or autocratic.
Spiritually - no. . . . Because when we declare "one nation
under God," the Christian's God is loving and kind, while
Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he
ever called love in The Quran's 99 excellent names.
Therefore after much study and deliberation, perhaps we
should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country.
Are they the walking time bombs that all the previous
terrorists have turned out to be?
They obviously cannot be both "good" Muslims and good
Americans.
* * * Call it what you wish; it's simply the truth.
* * * The more who understand this, the better educated
they will be about the real enemy of our culture, and our
country.
_________________________________________
The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers for the sake of Islamic rule.  Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding.  Muslims who do not join the fight are called 'hypocrites' and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.
Unlike nearly all of the Tanach (Old Testament) verses of violence, the verses of violence in the Quran are mostly open-ended, meaning that they are not restrained by the historical context of the surrounding text.  They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subjective as anything else in the Quran.
The context of violent passages is more ambiguous than might be expected of a perfect book from a loving G-d, however this can work both ways.  Most of today's Muslims exercise a personal choice to interpret their holy book's call to arms according to their own moral preconceptions about justifiable violence.  Apologists cater to their preferences with tenuous arguments that gloss over historical fact and generally do not stand up to scrutiny.  Still, it is important to note that the problem is not bad people, but bad ideology.
Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed.  Muhammad's own martial legacy - and that of his companions - along with the remarkable stress on violence found in the Quran have produced a trail of blood and tears across world history.
Pastor Faking Cancer and using it to hide from his PORN Addiction?
Faking cancer and using it to hide from his PORN addiction?
The fallen preacher was a Christian superstar, who said God inspired his hit song Healer. The song became an anthem of faith for believers, many of whom donated money to the Guglielmucci cancer cause.
Michael Guglielmucci has finally told of fabricating a terminal cancer battle to hide his 16-year obsession with pornography.
``This is who I am ... I'm addicted to the stuff, it consumes my mind,'' he said of pornography in his first interview on Today Tonight since the story was first revealed on AdelaideNow last week.
``... I'm sick and this is why I had to come up some sort of explanation of what was happening in my body.''
The shame of his addiction manifested itself physically, resulting in him losing his hair and purging his body.
``I've been living a lie for a long time,'' he said.
``I've been hiding who I am for so long. ``I can honestly say to you that the last two years have been hell for me physically, emotionally, but I never sat down and said ... let's try and fool the world.''
Today Tonight insisted that it did not pay for the interview from the man who has been in hiding and receiving psychiatric help since AdelaideNow revealed the web of lies last week.
Mr Guglialmucci, who claims to have written the hit song Healer after being inspired by God, also insisted that all monies received via song sales would be returned.
``I don't have any desire to attain any financial gain from that, we're already making stages to sign those royalties over,'' he said.
``I'm so sorry, not just for lying to my friends and my family even about a sickness, but I'm sorry for a life of saying I'm something I'm not ... from this day on I'm telling the truth.''
Mr Guglielmucci has written to Police Commissioner Mal Hyde offering to fully co-operate with any police inquiries into his fake illness.
"Michael's lawyer has written to the Police Commissioner advising him of all pertinent information and notifying him of Michael Guglielmucci's intention to fully co-operate with police inquiries," it says.
"Two years ago, I reported that I was suffering from cancer. The truth is that although I was ill, I did not have cancer but was again using the misdiagnosis to hide the lie that I was living."
The fallen preacher was a Christian superstar, who said God inspired his hit song Healer. The song became an anthem of faith for believers, many of whom donated money to the Guglielmucci cancer cause.
Hillsong Church (formerly Hills Christian Life Centre) is a Pentecostal Christian church affiliated with Australian Christian Churches, the Australian branch of the Assemblies of God denomination. The church is located in Sydney, Australia, headquartered at its "Hills" campus in Baulkham Hills' Norwest Business Park in the Hills District.
It appears Michael Guglielmucci isn't the only one accused of lying.
Romans 9:1: "I am speaking truth in Christ, I am not lying..."
2 Corinthians 11:31: "The God and Father of the Lord Jesus…knows that I do not lie."
Galations 1:19-20: "But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother. (In what I am writing to you, befor God, I do not lie!)"
1 Timothy 2:7: "For this I was appointed a preacher and apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth."
Why the emphatic protests if he had not been accused of lying?
The Lost Ten Tribes of Israel
Courtesy of Aish.com
No one really knows who is or is not a descendent of those lost tribes, except those in India, who preserved their identity as Mannasseh. Israel is in its infancy in conducting that research, but the trail of evidence is sparse, and the task is nearly impossible. To declare oneself an Ephraimite arbitrarily is dangerous, and links one to the Mormon error, playing to people's pride through the spirit of jealousy over the Jew's place with G-d.
EVIDENCE in the News!
Below is an article from the Jerusalem Post concerning The Ten Lost Tribes..
In our commentary [above] on the "Two-House" Ephraimite movement, it is asserted that these tribes were scattered initially to the east, and therefore highly unlikely that Europeans, especially Brits, whom the "two-housers" claim are the Ephraimites (and therefore the other nine tribes too) because they came to be "born again". This article shows that what I asserted is what Israel believes, and what archaeology and science are proving. In our article, I said that one tribe had already been found: Mannaseh. Ephraim has been added to that list! There's only eight more to go! Both of these were found in India. This article shows that the evidence is pointing predominantly east. We also asserted that JUDAH would call Ephraim back to the land! In the last days! This is exactly what is happening before our eyes!!!!!!!!! Judah is, in this context, the Jews who know they are Israel today...And they are making a VAST effort to find Ephraim (and all the tribes) !!! And they're NOT looking at Britain! [or subsequently America].
This article is another "trickle" of prophetic fulfillment happening "right under our noses".
Enjoy the article.
The saga of the Ten Lost Israelite Tribes has fascinated and captivated generations of researchers, pilgrims, religious leaders, and believers of many faiths and of many nationalities. For over 2700 years, ever since the residents of the Northern Israelite Kingdom were exiled by the King of Assyria, the story of the Ten Lost Tribes has been shrouded in a mystery of anecdotal traditions and competing narratives. Based on important historical, anthropological, and archeological theories, important research has unearthed the beliefs and spiritual awakenings, and the fascinating political, ethnic, and religious struggles of the Ten Lost Tribes.
The long road home.
by Michael Freund
The road leading to the village of Churachandpur winds through lush and verdant fields. Aside from an occasional military checkpoint, there is little vehicular activity along the thoroughfare, in this remote region of India’s northeast.
Located in the state of Manipur, near the border with Burma, Churachandpur is a sprawling complex of stone, wood and bamboo structures, interspersed with vast meadows and farmland. The rhythm of daily life is pastoral and tranquil, lending an air of calm and even serenity to the people who call it home.
It is late in the afternoon, and hundreds of members of the local Bnei Menashe (Hebrew for “Sons of Manasseh”) community, a group descended from one of the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, have gathered in the local synagogue to recite the afternoon prayers.
The men sway back and forth in intense concentration, reciting the words in Hebrew with deliberate precision and care. Naturally, they all rise turn towards the west, facing Jerusalem as they reaffirm their determination to return to the land of their ancestors, the Land of Israel.
Despite being cut off from the rest of world Jewry for more than 2,700 years, they managed to preserve their Jewish heritage.
To a visitor from abroad, it is a magnificent sight to behold. Indeed, when closing one’s eyes and listening to the chazzan (cantor) recite the repetition of the Amidah prayer, it is easy to forget that one is standing in a synagogue in northeastern India, rather than in London, New York or Tel Aviv.
A life in exile
The story of the Bnei Menashe is truly breathtaking, one which almost defies rational explanation. Despite being cut off from the rest of world Jewry for more than 2,700 years, they managed to preserve their Jewish heritage, while always nourishing the dream of returning to Zion.
Some 7,000 Bnei Menashe currently reside in the Indian states of Mizoram and Manipur, along the border with Burma and Bangladesh. Their tradition, passed down through the generationsis that they are descendants of the lost Israelite tribe of Manasseh, which was exiled from the Land of Israel by the Assyrian empire in 723 BCE.
Throughout their wandering in the Diaspora, the Bnei Menashe observed the Sabbath, practiced circumcision on the eighth day, kept the laws of Kashrut and meticulously upheld the rules of family purity. They even established cities of refuge, where people who had killed inadvertently could flee, just as the Torah prescribes.
Evidence of the Bnei Menashe’s ancient connection with the Jewish people abounds. On a visit to the community in India, I met with a Bnei Menashe elder named Yossi, a 69-year old resident of Aizawl, capital of the state of Mizoram, where many of the Bnei Menashe currently live.
Two of Hualngo’s uncles served as village priests and, speaking through an interpreter, he offered a detailed description of the ceremonies they performed. His uncles, he said, would don white garments before carrying out sacrificial rites, including one with strings dangling from its four corners, reminiscent of the tallit with arba kanfot (the four-cornered ritual prayer shawl) worn by Jews.
In the spring, at Passover time, they would mark an annual festival of deliverance by sacrificing an animal, but not before smearing its blood on people’s doorways, just as the Israelites had done during the Exodus from Egypt. Indeed, according to Hualngo, there was a rule that the priests had to carefully remove the meat from the bones of the animal without breaking any of them, just as the Bible instructs regarding the Passover sacrifice (Exodus 12:46).
Then, in a remarkable scene, Hualngo proceeded to chant one of the prayers that his uncles used to say while conducting the sacrificial ceremony. The words in the song, and their Biblical origin, are unmistakable: Terah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the Red Sea, Marah and Shiloh (site of the ancient tabernacle and capital of the northern tribes of Israel until the Assyrian conquest).
This ancient Bnei Menashe prayer, known as “Miriam’s Song,” parallels the Biblical account of the Exodus from Egypt: “We had to cross the Red Sea, our enemies were coming after us with chariots, the sea swallowed them all, as if they are meat. We are led by the cloud during the day and by fire at night. Take those birds for the food, and drink water coming out from the rock.”
In their community, among strangers
To locals living in Mizoram, there is no question regarding the origins of the Bnei Menashe. Lal Thlamuana, 45, a devout Christian who is the proprietor and principal of the local Home Mission School, has no doubt about the Israelite origins of the Mizos (the local name for the tribe from which the Bnei Menashe come).
“Even Christian Mizos believe the Bnei Menashe are descendants of Israel,” he says, and proceeds to expound on a number of the community’s ancient customs and traditions, such as circumcision of newborn boys on the eighth day, levirate marriage, and strict laws regarding menstruation, all of which are strikingly similar to Jewish law.
The British colonialists, Thlamuana notes, referred to the Mizo people as Lushei, a mispronunciation of Lu Se, which means “Ten Tribes”. According to the Bnei Menashe, their ancestors migrated south from China to escape persecution, settling in Burma and then moving westward into what is now Mizoram and Manipur in India.
Before long, the missionaries succeeded in converting most of Mizoram’s population. But some did not convert.
A century ago, when British missionaries first arrived in India’s northeast, they were astonished to find that the local tribesmen worshiped one God, were familiar with many of the stories of the Bible, and were practicing a form of biblical Judaism. Before long, the missionaries succeeded in converting most of Mizoram’s population. Yet many of them, Christians and other tribesmen alike, proudly continued to preserve the tradition that they are descended from the ancient Israelites.
Some, however, did not convert, and remained faithful to the ways of their ancestors. Indeed, in recent decades, the Bnei Menashe have built dozens of synagogues across India’s northeast, and three times a day they turn fervently in prayer, with their eyes raised toward Zion.
Over the past decade, thanks largely to Shavei Israel (www.shavei.org), the organization that I chair, some 1,700 Bnei Menashe have moved to Israel, where they have undergone formal conversion to Judaism by Israel’s Chief Rabbinate in order to remove any doubts regarding their personal status.
In March 2005, after I approached Israel’s Sephardi Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar and asked him to study the community and its origins, the Chief Rabbi formally recognized the Bnei Menashe as “descendants of the Jewish people,” and agreed to facilitate their return.
In September 2005, Rabbi Amar dispatched a rabbinical court to India, which converted 218 Bnei Menashe in Mizoram back to Judaism, and in November 2006, they all made aliyah to the Galilee, in Israel’s north. An additional group of 230 Bnei Menashe from Manipur made aliyah in 2007, completing the conversion process once they arrived in Israel. Part of the group settled in the city of Upper Nazareth, with the rest making their homes in Karmiel. In recent years, two Bnei Menashe scholars have since received rabbinical ordination, while another is a certified religious scribe whose quill has produced beautiful Scrolls of Esther. In the summer of 2006, over a dozen young Bnei Menashe served as soldiers on the front lines in Lebanon and Gaza.
Those still in India continue to grow in Jewish knowledge and practice, and hundreds of Bnei Menashe currently study at one of the three educational centers that Shavei Israel has established on their behalf in Mizoram and Manipur. Patiently, they await the day when Israel’s government will allow them to make aliyah and be reunited with their friends and family already living in the Jewish state.
Khaute’s journey
For Tzvi Khaute, a Bnei Menashe community leader in Israel, the separation from his family back in India has not been easy. Though he has been living in Israel for ten years, and has successfully been absorbed in the country, he still feels pangs of yearning for his close relatives who remain behind.
From a very young age, Khaute always knew that by being Jewish he was different.
One of six children, Khaute’s youngest brother is serving in the Indian army. He has a cousin who is the chief of the Indian Police Intelligence department in his home state of Manipur, and another cousin who is a former government minister. As a child growing up in Churachandpur, Khaute recalls, he didn’t pay all that much attention to Jewish tradition.
Like most kids, Khaute was more interested in playing soccer with his friends and doing well at school. Nonetheless, even from a very young age, he always knew that by being Jewish he was different. “My grandfather, who was the chief priest of the village, told us that our living in India was only a sojourn and temporary, and that we Bnei Menashe are separate from the rest of the country - politically, socially and ethnically,” Khaute recalls.
His family instilled within him a deep pride in their roots as Bnei Menashe, and as he grew up, Khaute began to take more interest in his heritage.
He took note of the rituals of the Bnei Menashe that he would later learn were in many ways parallel to modern Jewish observance. “Shabbat was always observed as a rest day from work,” he says. “We never mixed milk and meat, and chicken and cattle were slaughtered by the community priest.”
Other Bnei Menashe customs Khaute remembers include a form of brit mila (circumcision) which was followed by a community feast; a mourning period that lasted 30 days (rather than the usual Jewish custom of seven); tithing one-tenth of one’s agricultural produce to sustain the community’s priestly caste; and a strict policy against intermarriage.
Rediscovering Zion
The community yearned for Zion, but “we thought Zion was in heaven. We didn’t know it was real,” Khaute says. After the creation of the State of Israel, the Bnei Menashe began their struggle to reach the Promised Land. “The first official letter was sent in the name of the Bnei Menashe to (then prime minister) Golda Meir in 1974. We wrote ‘we are Jewish. We want to come back home.’ But we received no answer.”
We thought Zion was in heaven. We didn’t know it was real.”
After his arrival in Israel ten years ago, Khaute began working in the greenhouses in the village of Sussia. But he didn’t actually get his hands dirty. With a degree in economics from India’s prestigious University of New Delhi, he served as the greenhouse’s in-house statistician. And in order to deepen his knowledge of Judaism, he spent six years studying Torah part-time at the Machon Meir yeshiva in Jerusalem.
Khaute’s grandparents – who were influential in his initial Jewish reawakening – died over ten years ago, and never fulfilled their life-long vision of reaching the Promised Land. But he remains confident that the rest of his family, and community, will soon be able to come on aliyah. “We pray and hope for them every day,” he says.
The saga of the Bnei Menashe is testimony to the power of Jewish history and Jewish memory. The Bnei Menashe clung to their identity despite 27 centuries of wandering, never forgetting who they are or where they came from, even as they nourished the dream that one day they would return. Their story is our story, and it underscores our people’s faith and resilience even in the most trying of circumstances. May they reach their destination speedily and without delay.
